About Us

Welcome to the 2017/18 Walnut Grove Intermediate School Website. We are so glad that you are visiting our site, and even more excited about the opportunities and offerings we have for your children. Walnut Grove is a 7th and 8th grade Intermediate School that has less than 450 students. We are proud to be a small school where every student is known and taken care of academically and socially. We have a fabulous staff of teachers and support personnel that take interest in each of your children's' academic progress and personal maturity. We look forward to supporting students to do more deep reading, writing and discussing as we prepare them for both college and career. Please explore our website and you will find a wealth of information from teacher's assignments to activity and sports schedules.  If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback for us please contact us through the website e-mail. Thank you, and enjoy the site.

Weekly Message

Good Afternoon Walnut Grove Families,

We are preparing students to begin their CAASPP testing Monday April 30. They will begin ELA testing in their English classes. Students will be taking tests in ELA and math, and 8th graders will take a field test in science this year. Please talk to your students about getting ready for the tests and encouraging them to do their best. Your students have done so well this year. They have the highest grades in the district, averaging over 80% in all their classes. They have grown in their reading lexile levels three to four grades already this year. This is the highest in the district and among the highest in the state! We have over 97% attendance and are among the top in the district again. We would like to see our students finish strong on their state tests. Our goals this year are for students to go up 50 points, that’s around 3 or 4 questions better than last year.  If we can do this we will be at the highest blue level on the state dashboard. We would also like students to meet or exceed the standard that is to earn a 3 or 4 on the test. We have incentives for the students such as free slushies, mile run passes and work passes.

This Wednesday, April 25, is Administrative Assistants Day at Walnut Grove and we would like to celebrate our office staff that do such a great job.  Please tell Ms. Sandoval, Ms. Miller, Ms. Evans, and Mr. Gonzalez how much you appreciate them.

Thanks and Have a Great Weekend!

Welcome to Walnut Grove!
